This afternoon Jessica and I went on an organised kayaking trip from Auckland to Browns Island (also known as Motukorea) which is a small volcano in Waitemata Harbour.
Browns Island is only accessible by boat and was approximately a 2½ hour round trip of paddling from Auckland, but fortunately the trip included a break for a bbq on the island and time to explore its beauty, as well as climbing to the summit of the volcano to take in the 360° degrees view of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf, before our return to Auckland as the sun set.
Sun beginning to retire for the day over Waitemata Harbour and Auckland.
The lowering sun reflecting on Waitemata Harbour with the silhouette of the Auckland skyline and the dominating Sky Tower.
Tall trees and lush green grass flourishing on the volcanic Browns Island.
Jessica on steps descending to the beach where we landed our kayaks.
This was my last crazy experience of my 9 months travelling and also this year.
My daughter and I cannot help but be competitive against one another, but the kayaking has left me feeling exhausted this evening. Perhaps I need holiday ?
Our time in New Zealand is coming to a close as we head to Sydney in Australia for our final few days of our trip before returning to the London on the 4th January 2020.
